Dear RPL / Admissions Team, I am interested in obtaining the SIT40521 Certificate IV in Kitchen Management through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). I have approximately 3 years of professional commercial kitchen experience in the UK, including experience at Head Chef level, with responsibilities including kitchen operations, food preparation, food safety, stock control, menu planning, staff supervision, ordering and maintaining food quality and hygiene standards. I am currently outside Australia and intend to relocate to Australia for a long-term career in the hospitality industry. As I already have substantial industry experience, I would like to know whether my existing skills and experience can be assessed through RPL rather than completing the full course. Before making any payment, could you please confirm whether you offer a FREE, no-obligation RPL pre-assessment for offshore applicants? I can provide my CV, UK employment references, job descriptions, employment evidence, food-safety certificates and other evidence of my professional experience. Could you please advise: Whether my UK Head Chef/Chef experience is suitable for RPL; Whether you can conduct the initial assessment while I am overseas; Whether the initial RPL assessment is completely free; What evidence you would require from me; and If I am found competent through RPL, what total fees, if any, would be payable to receive the SIT40521 qualification? I am specifically looking for an RPL pathway that recognises my existing professional experience and avoids paying for training in skills I already possess.
